Environmental & Carbon Reporting Specialist (Associate / Flexible Support)
About Green Circle Solutions
Green Circle Solutions supports organisations to understand, measure and reduce their environmental impact, with a strong focus on practical, credible sustainability and carbon reporting through our SaaS based calculators. We work with venues, organisers, suppliers and SMEs to embed decarbonisation in ways that make commercial and operational sense as well as support across the broader sustainability and ESG agenda.
As demand for our work grows, we are looking to build a small network of trusted environmental professionals who can support delivery during peak periods.
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced environmental professional to provide flexible, ad-hoc support across carbon measurement, reporting and insight. The role is home-based, with hours varying depending on project demand and workload.
This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys focused, analytical work, values flexibility, and is comfortable working independently while being part of a collaborative team.
Key areas of focus
Depending on project needs, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting carbon footprinting and environmental reporting across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions
- Analysing and interpreting large datasets related to energy use, travel, transport and supply chains
- Applying recognised methodologies and standards, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and aligning outputs with client reporting requirements
- Providing clear, thoughtful insight that helps clients understand their impacts and identify realistic opportunities to reduce emissions
- Supporting the development of client reports, dashboards and narrative explanations that are accurate, balanced and accessible
- Contributing to continuous improvement of tools, templates and approaches used across the business
Experience and capabilities
We are looking for someone who brings a combination of technical competence and practical judgement, including:
- A strong working understanding of carbon accounting and environmental reporting, particularly Scope 1, 2 and 3
- Confidence working with complex or imperfect datasets, and the ability to make and clearly explain reasonable assumptions
- Experience translating data into meaningful insight and recommendations, not just numbers
- A relevant qualification in environmental science, sustainability, engineering or a related field, and/or equivalent professional experience
- Familiarity with sustainability frameworks, standards or reporting requirements commonly used by organisations
- Strong attention to detail, with a calm and methodical approach to work
Ways of working
- Home-based / remote
- Flexible hours, dependent on project workload and agreed availability
- Work allocated on a project or time-bound basis during busier delivery periods
- Collaborative, supportive team environment with clear briefs and expectations
We welcome interest from individuals with different backgrounds and career paths. What matters most is experience, judgement and the ability to deliver high-quality, thoughtful work.
