Holly is currently going into Year 13, where she’s studying A Levels in Geography, Business and Philosophy. With a deep-rooted interest in environmental issues—particularly inspired by early geography lessons on climate change—she’s been proactively seeking opportunities to build her knowledge and gain practical experience in sustainability.

“I’ve been interested in sustainability for a while,” says Holly. “When I started looking into what I could do outside of school, I came across Green Circle Solutions and reached out to see if I could get involved in any way.”

Since joining the team, Holly has supported a wide range of projects, particularly within business development and carbon data collection. From researching local business networks and generating contact lists, to transferring carbon footprint data across systems, Holly has played a hands-on role in helping us grow—and green—our client base.

Most recently, she’s been supporting one of our largest carbon footprint projects to date: supporting the calculation of the travel emissions for a major international event. This involved analysing attendee travel data by country, flight class, and distance—providing crucial insights into the event’s environmental impact.

“She’s brought great attention to detail and an eagerness to learn,” said David Humphreys, Director at Green Circle Solutions. “What’s refreshing is how she’s not only helping us with real, valuable work—but also asking good questions and sparking new ideas. It is important for employers to support tomorrow’s talent by offering opportunities for young people to experience the world of work and learn about the variety of roles available.”

Outside the world of sustainability, Holly’s a keen cricketer—playing for both her school’s first team and a local club—as well as a qualified lifeguard, often found working shifts at the weekend. She also plays guitar and has a natural curiosity for the world around her, recently exploring university options to study Geography or a sustainability-related degree.

Her time with Green Circle is ongoing over the summer and, in her own words, “a chance to build experience doing something that matters.” Whether she’s analysing carbon emissions or learning about sustainable business practices, Holly is already making a meaningful impact—and we’re proud to be part of her journey.

We know the future of sustainability depends on the next generation. With young people like Holly stepping forward, we feel it’s in very safe hands.
